A nice dark blue cobalt was used to paint the floral scrolling designs on this very old Chinese porcelain. It is amazing to hold something this old. The glaze is so soft and worn from time.A round mid-weight porcelain shallow bowl/deep plate that has a thick bluish cast glaze. The glaze feels very soft and has a nice old shine to it. The plate was painted with a dark, almost black-blue cobalt. The design is of circular scrolling foliage with large circular flowers. The dish has concentric rings around the lip, central medallion and above the foot. The foot is cut and unglazed. The base is glazed. The sides show the same scrolling.There is no mark or label.MEASUREMENTS 9 ??a€ (24.1 cm) diameter x 1 7/8a€ (4.8 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 9.3 oz (715 g)CONDITION There are damages commensurate with the age. There are wear scratches especially in the central well, cavetto and base. There is a reserve spot where the glaze did not take and there is also a cut out near it in the central well. The one has rounded flow edges whereas, the other is sharp. There are fracture marks on the base which extend through to the surface. There are kiln flaws such as black spots, pimples, and reserve spots. Saying all that, the plate still rings like a bell. It has only one tiny rim chip.An ancient dish from the Ming dynasty that is still fully intact and has a lovely look.Item ID: Por-1814
