A very old Chinese blue and white porcelain dish with Ling Zhi fungus and floral motif. The cobalt is almost black blue and has explosions. The plate was deaccessioned from the Portland Art Museum in Portland Oregon.A round plate with a shallow rise to the mouth. The glaze is slightly bluish and it is decorated with a deep black blue cobalt. The design has multiple panels with floral and fungus paintings. There is a spiral pattern in the center of the plate. The rim is blue. There are repeating floral and fungal patterns on the back. The foot is cut and unglazed. There is a double blue ring on the glazed base. The glaze feels so very smooth and thick. It has a slightly shiny look.There is a cobalt brush mark on the base.MEASUREMENTS 6a€ (15.2 cm) diameter x 1a€ (2.5 cm) tall. Weighs 8.5 oz (240 g)CONDITIONThe bowl has a repair on the underside of the lip. There are no other chips, cracks, or breaks. The bowl rings like a bell. There is heavy wear to the plate inside and out. The back is stained but the front isna€?t too bad. The plate is very old.
