Hand thrown and hand painted large Chinese bowl with intricate over glaze enamels that depict scenes from a Mandarins home and garden.The large shallow white porcelain bowl has a small circular central medallion outlined in gold with a design of flowers with a bird. This central medallion is surrounded by four panels. These panels alternate between designs of flowers with birds and Mandarin garden scenes. Elaborate arabesques fence off these panels and adorning the rim. The designs are painted in rose, red, green, blue, and yellow over glaze enamels. Gold has been used for accent, and black has been used to outline and accent. The rose and red glazes feel dry to the touch. The painting is minute and professionally done. The porcelain is not very thinly potted and has some weight to it. The glaze is thick, smooth and has a slight bluish cast. It also has pinhole reserves and pimples, particularly on the base and underside. The foot curves slightly inward and is raised and cut. The foot is not glazed and has grit.
