Nice heavy larger bookends with a Roman theme that will keep your books upright. The design is very dynamic. The horses look like they will escape the bookend.Flat based bookends with a high back that were cast from iron and then applied with a copper patina. The casting is deep with much detail. The design is of a Roman charioteer racing his horses around a bend in a Coliseum. The design is very active with the horses showing movement as well as the charioteer raises his whip. The original green felt is still on the bases. The back is detailed with a faux hammered finish. The only mark is the number 695 on the back base edge. It appears on both bookends.MEASUREMENTS 6 1/8a€ (15.6 cm) wide x 5 3/8a€ (13.7 cm) tall x 2 1/8a€ (5.4 cm) deep. Weighs 5 lb 1.8 oz (2.32 kg)CONDITION There are no dents, chips, breaks, or cracks. The copper patina is still bright. The only damage is to the felts on the bases. They are worn and one felt has a small hole.A rare dynamic pair of bookends that will give off glimmers of copper highlights. With their size and weight they also do a great job holding up books in the library.___________________Item ID: V-1730
