Small, delicate, ancient paste box from the 13th century that has a fine early celadon glaze. The box base shows the pooling of this celadon glaze.A lid and matching base hand potted from a ceramic fired buff clay. The round lid has fine pottera€?s lines. The base has a raised flange for the lid and they fit together very well. The glaze on the lid and interior of box is a brownish green with a fine crackle. Where the glaze has pooled as on the circular lines of the lid and the interior bottom of the base, it has a greenish hue. The lid underside, the base flange and outer body are not glazed.MEASUREMENTS 1 ??a€ (4.4 cm) diameter x 7/8a€ (2.2 cm) tall.
