A very earthy necklace with a rich look like amber the shine like silver.Five large round yellow semi-opaque Bakelite beads are interspersed with large round silver beads and disks. The rest of the necklace has a series of small beads that appear to be handmade because they are each a slightly different size. One side has 25 tiny beads and the other has 26.The clasp is a coiled wire to a hook and eye. The cord is an old, thick black unidentified material. The metal beads are shiny like silver, but show no oxidization and do not need polishing. The yellow beads give off the chemical smell of Bakelite when rubbed.Although it's pretty clear from the irregular beads that the necklace was handmade, we can't quite nail down where this necklace was made. It could be from the Middle East, India or even Tibet except that I don't believe Bakelite was ever common to those areas.MEASUREMENTS The two large metal beads and five Bakelite beads each measure 20 mm diameter. The small metal beads are approximately 5 mm diameter. The necklace is 19 1/2a€? long. Weight 2.8 oz (80 g)CONDITION There are no cracks or breaks. One large round bead has bumps probably from manufacture. An old tribal necklace that has a bold large look.Item ID: J-1790Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: silver/yellow, Size: 19.5"
