Colorful, intricate hand painted designs on a large porcelain charger that can be seen from across a room.A round porcelain charger with panels of arranged floral designs alternating with landscape scenes. The central well has a cobalt and leaf design. The glaze is thick, smooth, shiny and unctuous. A rich dark purple blue under glaze cobalt was used in the first firing to give a base for the later paintings. Green, iron red, and gray over glaze enamels were painted over the cobalt and then fired for a second time. Black was used to outline and accent. There is a cobalt ring at the mouth and cobalt rings above the foot. There are three stylized cobalt symbols on the back. The charger has a shallow foot ring that is unglazed. You can see the pottera€?s wheel marks under the glaze on the base. There is a round unglazed sager mark in the center of the base.MEASUREMENTS 12a€ (30.5 cm) diameter x 1 5/8a€ (4.2 cm) tall. There is a rough patch on the mouth rim and wear in the central well, resulting in little color remaining on the leaves in the designs in the center. There is a circular craze line running through some the enamels on the interior. It has traveled but doesna€?t go through to the outside of the charger.
