Great contrast of gold on black lacquer make these decorative stem cups really stand out. They are expertly painted. The design is fine and accurate.These wooden stem cups have been lacquered with black and then over lacquered in gold with intricate peony scrolling. They are light in weight and shiny with glossy lacquer. They are exact copies of each other. They are presented in a wooden box.The box has a colorful paper label in Japanese. One box end has a couple of stamped cartouches with characters and a paper stamp. One paper stamp has the name Daimaru and another paper stamp with the number 17.MEASUREMENTS Each cup measures 4 1/8a€ (10.5 cm) tall x 3 7/8a€ (9.8 cm) diameter. The box measures 9a€ (22.9 cm) tall x 4 7/8a€ (12.4 cm) wide x 4 ??a€ (12.1 cm) deep. Total weight 1 lb 2.4 oz (475 g)CONDITION There is slight wear to the gold rim edge on both. It is not noticeable. One cup has slight darkening of the gold peony design and the cup top is slightly tilted. They still look very handsome with the gold and black.An eye catching pair of handmade stem cups.
