Lovely, tiny intricate painting and carving on this salt set. A true miniature in every way.A tiny four-sided porcelain box decorated by hand with flowers painted with red, green, yellow, purple over glaze enamels and outlined in black. The lid is a thin slab of porcelain is painted with an immortal riding a chi lin painted with brilliant gold enamel. The edge of the lid is also painted in gold. The lid has a flanged edge that fits the base. The tiny salt spoon is a work of art in mother of pearl. The thinly carved spoon has a delicate incising of a floral motif on the upper handle. It has that nice iridescent white color and is translucent when held to the light.The inside of the mouth and the lid flange are unglazed. There are four small sager marks on the base. There are no porcelain marks or labels. Please note that we have a total of nine salt containers available that nearly match this one, although some are missing their spoon.
