An extremely carefully crafted ceramic tea pot. The spout, handle and knob on the lid are in the form of a twisting grapevine with some branches that swing very far out bearing leaves and a few grapes, all of which has been executed with great precision. The teapot’s brown-violet color is called zishani. On the bottom is the four-character mark Zhongguo (China) Yixing. Yixing is the place of production, located in Jiangsu province, and is one of the coldest centers of ceramic production. On the underside of the curved lid is the potter’s seal.
