Gautama Shakyamuni seated in padmasana on a stepped throne, holding one hand in bhumisparsha mudra, the earth touching gesture. Buddha is calling Bhumidevi, the goddess representing Mother Earth, to witness his victory over Mara (Satan). The body is very well proportioned; lotus bud on his ushnisha. Fine engravings on the samghati and throne.
