Lu Rong'en (born 1949) is a Chinese American painter originally from Zhejiang province. He received his early artistic training in Guangzhou, where his precocious talent and broad scholarly interests became evident at a young age. Through the introduction of his second uncle, Chen Xujing-former President of Lingnan University, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University, President of Jinan University, and President of Nankai University-Lu studied painting and calligraphy under leading masters including Huang Anren, Shan Boqin, Li Gemin, and Zhou Qianqiu, and received scholarly guidance from the renowned archaeologist, palaeographer, and collector Rong Geng. He also benefited from the instruction of Yung Geng, a distinguished archaeologist, antiquarian, and collector.

Lu was further mentored by Guan Shanyue and Lai Hung Choi, leading figures of the Lingnan School, and maintained close artistic exchange with Bao Yueting, the celebrated revolutionary-era painter-experiences that profoundly shaped his artistic development.

Lu Rong'en has held numerous professional and leadership roles in the international Chinese art community. He has served as Chief Chinese Calligrapher and Painter for Disneyland, Director of the New York Artists Association, Life Member of the Australian Chinese Artists Association, Director of the China International Association of Calligraphers and Painters, Director of the Guangdong Overseas Friendship Association and its Calligraphy and Painting Committee, Vice President of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Chinese Culture and Arts Association, Director of the Foshan-Zhuhai-Macau Calligraphy and Painting Association, and Director of the A & C Culture Center, New York.

In the early 1980s, during a solo exhibition in Guangzhou, the eminent painter and calligrapher Su Gengchun wrote after viewing the works: "Young and promising, forging his own path, he unites East and West; his paintings will shine.
