The heavy bronze body displays a warm golden-bronze surface with naturally developed aged patina, subtle mineral deposits, and traces of historical oxidation. The halberd-shaped handles retain remnants of original cinnabar-colored residue, while the raised Arabic calligraphy decoration and finely textured pearl-ground engraving remain well preserved. The base bears a clear “Da Ming Zhengde Nian Zhi” mark with strong casting details. The interior retains natural traces of long-term incense use, adding to its historical character. Provenance: Private Collection, California, USA,Description: This finely cast bronze incense burner features a classic ding-style form associated with Xuande-style incense vessels. The vessel has a wide open mouth, a slightly waisted neck, a full rounded belly, and three sturdy conical legs that provide a stable and powerful silhouette. The two sides are fitted with symmetrical halberd-shaped handles, with traces of old cinnabar-colored finish preserved on the surfaces, creating a strong sense of age and historical presence. Both sides of the body feature elegant cloud-shaped panels filled with finely engraved pearl-ground decoration and high-relief Arabic calligraphy representing the Islamic declaration of faith. The flowing lines and strong three-dimensional carving create a striking visual effect. Bronze incense burners decorated with Arabic script are especially associated with the Zhengde period, reflecting the cultural exchanges between China and the Islamic world during the Ming dynasty and carrying significant historical and artistic importance. The surface displays a naturally aged patina with warm golden bronze tones, scattered areas of oxidation, and traces of old incense use. The interior has a rich aged surface developed through years of use. The base features a square seal-script inscription reading “Da Ming Zhengde Nian Zhi,” executed with confident casting and careful workmanship. Combining traditional Chinese bronze vessel forms with Islamic decorative elements, this rare incense burner represents an important example of Ming dynasty intercultural craftsmanship and remains highly desirable for collectors of Chinese bronzes.
