拍品描述 翻译
Dimensions: 21 cm (8.27 inches) in diameter, 9 cm (3.54 inches) in height. A large Jun ware bowl from the 12th to 14th centuries (Jin-Yuan period), decorated with natural copper-colored flame-purple floral patterns. Condition and Provenance: This bowl follows the classic deep-bellied, flared shape of Jin-Yuan Jun ware. The glaze naturally thins along the rim, forming an amber border, and was fired in situ. The entire bowl is covered with a thick, milky-white and sky-blue pearlescent glaze, with a delicate surface and a soft, understated, antique sheen. The center of the bowl is decorated with naturally diffused rose-purple flame-patterned glaze, where violet, deep red, and sky blue tones blend seamlessly without any artificial coloring. The base is a wide, heart-shaped, unglazed foot. The body is robust, yellowish, and dense, with natural kiln rust on the inside of the foot. A clear spiral pattern from the wheel throwing is visible at the center of the bottom. This bowl is well-preserved, without minor cracks, hidden fissures, chips, signs of repair, later glaze repairs, or modern glaze peeling and polishing. The rim of the bowl shows only slight surface wear, likely due to centuries of use; the original glaze is intact. This Jun ware bowl was initially consigned for auction by an antique ceramics gallery in Hong Kong and entered the pre-Ming dynasty ceramics collection of a private collector in New York State in 2026. Hong Kong, New York, California, and Vancouver are major global trading centers for Song, Jin, and Yuan dynasty Chinese ceramics. Description: This large, sky-blue, fire-fired Jun ware bowl from the Jin and Yuan dynasties is an iconic utilitarian display piece from the golden age of Northern Jun ware. Jun ware production began in the Northern Song dynasty and flourished during the Jin and Yuan dynasties, renowned for its unique copper-flame firing technique, which creates distinctive purple splashed-ink patterns on a blue glaze, unique among all medieval Chinese ceramics. The bowl has a wide, flaring rim, a deep, curved body, and a thick, low base. Firing large-diameter Jun bowls in ancient kilns was extremely risky, as they were prone to deformation, sinking, and even kiln cracking at high temperatures; therefore, well-preserved large Jun bowls are extremely rare. The bowl is covered entirely in a thick, flowing, milky-white Jun glaze. High-temperature firing thins the glaze at the rim, creating a natural light brown decorative edge—a characteristic naturally formed by the kiln, untouched by artificial modification. The glaze transitions smoothly from a deep eggplant purple to a soft pink, blending seamlessly with the surrounding lake-blue glaze. This natural gradation is entirely due to the random variations in kiln temperature, copper oxide content, and the kiln atmosphere; each splash of Jun glaze is unique and possesses immense artistic charm. Fine, natural crackles are evenly distributed throughout the glaze, a natural aging characteristic resulting from the mismatch in thermal expansion coefficients between the clay and glaze. The cracks, varying in depth, are evenly distributed across the bowl. The exposed foot reveals coarse-grained clay covered in natural kiln rust, and the clearly visible hand-carved pattern at the center of the bottom perfectly matches the typical foot-ring technique of Jin and Yuan dynasty Jun ware. Compared to the plain sky-blue Jun ware porcelain, this bowl with its clear natural purple firing patterns is more valuable to collectors, possessing multiple values as a decorative piece, a practical antique, and an academic ceramic specimen. This bowl has never undergone modern cleaning, polishing, or glaze restoration. Its clay texture, glaze crackle pattern, natural firing marks, and foot ring structure are all completely consistent with the typical characteristics of Jin and Yuan dynasty Jun ware porcelain. It is highly sought after by international collectors of pre-Ming dynasty ceramics in North America, possessing enduring aesthetic value and reliable long-term investment potential.
