goldsmith Giovacchino Belli, smooth body of piriform shape chiseled with lanceolate leaves, Triton shaped beak, bone handle carved to depict a greyhound, stamps of guarantee of the Papal State, h. 48 cm.The iconography of the greyhound, so dear to Neoclassicism for its elegant form, has ancient roots and derives from its legendary loyalty to the family of the owner, even at the cost of the sacrifice of his life.
