A Chinese white bronze and blue enameled hand warmer. 19th century Qing Dynasty. The body is decorated on the two long opposing sides with raised in relief carvings of stags / deer and herons within a landscape setting, accentuated by a deep blue background. The shorter opposing sides having etched and blue enamel decoration depicting, butterflies, insects, flowers, leaves and vines. Bail type handle. The lid having a pierced geometric openwork motif. Measures 5.25" wide to end of handles, 4.5" deep, 3-1/8" high.PROVENANCE: Ex. collection of General Joseph Warren Stilwell (1883-1946) via his grandson, son of Winifred Stilwell Cox (daughter of General Stilwell).
