An antique Chinese inkstick. Solidified ink formed as a seal chop. Surmounted by a gilded metal temple lion / foo dog, adorned with red enameled beads. The chop is carved with raised in relief calligraphy characters; Xiu,Cheng, Wen, Kai, etc. The underside is carved in relief depicting a seal. Measures 3" high, 1-1/16" wide,1-1/16" deep. With original lamb's wool fitted presentation case, 4.75" high, 2.5" wide, 2" deep.PROVENANCE: Ex. collection of General Joseph Warren Stilwell (1883-1946) via his grandson, son of Winifred Stilwell Cox (daughter of General Stilwell).
