Description: 19th century, Japan. One Kesa in bluish-black, silver-grey, and golden brown with an all-over pattern of stylised chrysanthemums, with lining in blue silk; with dedication (189x108 cm). The other Kesa in gold with an all-over floral pattern and patches in blue, with lining in greyish silk; without dedication (184.5x110 cm). Plus two assorted small- sized shawls with all-over patterns in brown and beige. Silk and metallic threads. Condition of both Kesa and both shawls: strong wear end tear.
