Description: 19th century, Japan. One Kesa in golden yellow with pine trees and chrysanthemums, and with lining in off-white silk; with dedication (182x117.5 cm, see detail). The other Kesa in black and gold with a pattern of cherry blossoms and geometrical elements, with patches in gold, and lining in yellow silk; without dedication (193.5x116.5 cm). Plus one small-sized shawl and one sash (299x8 cm) in brown silk, stencilled with butterflys and flowers in gold. Silk and metallic threads. Condition of the first Kesa: good; the second Kesa: strong wear and tear. (4)
