Japan, Edo Period, ca. 1700 to 1750 CE. Finely glazed pottery water dropper (Suiteka) in the form of a rabbit. Resting on its haunches, ears back on its shoulders, spout in its mouth, small fill-hole on its back. Vessels such as this were used to drip small amounts of water on ink stones for use in Japanese calligraphy. Size: 3.25" L x 2.125" H (8.3 cm x 5.4 cm)
