A MILKY-WHITE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE, QING DYNASTY Opaque white glass with excellent surface polish China, 18th – 19th centuryThe body of the bottle is blown, while a lapidary has cut the concave foot, detailed mouth and lip, and polished the exterior. Unusually for a blown bottle, there are no air bubbles detectable here, even with a strong light and magnifying glass. It is a piece of glass as pure and flawless as one can possibly imagine.Shape: Flat rectangular form with rounded shouldersHollowing: StandardMouth, neck and lip: Cylindric broad neck with slanted inner and outer lips and small mouth, quite deep inner cylinderBase: Oval base with raised foot rimStopper: Agate cabochon on black platelet with good old carved spoonHeight of the bottle with stopper: 7.6 cm.Width of the mouth: 6 mm.Width of the neck: 18 mm.Weight: 45.9 gramsCondition: Perfect condition with only minimal wearProvenance: From a Beverly Hills, California, private estateAuction result comparison: SNUFF BOTTLES FROM THE MARY AND GEORGE BLOCH COLLECTION: PART X.
