A PLAIN CARAMEL GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE, 1760-1860Opaque caramel glass of elegant shape and with a well-polished surfaceChina, 1760-1860This type of bottle typically dates from the last quarter of the 18th century to the first quarter of the 19th century and seems to have been originally designed to be either decorated in Guyue Xuan enamels or embellished with carved overlay. This small yet strikingly elegant example, however, was left undecorated and would certainly have rendered a fantastic workpiece for skilled enamel artists of the 20th century such as Ye Bengqi.
