Fancy Brass & Iron Hanging Theater Light. Deco style hanging light fixture has an octagonal center with 2 trumpeted 8 panel inverted shades above and 8 conical shades on side arms branching off of at the corners with pendant spheres hanging below. Has clusters of sockets within the 2 upper shades, 8 sockets point up and 8 pointing down within the body of the fixture and 4 pendant sockets below. Condition is as found when removed from theater by the consignor, has some loss and damage to the glass and is missing the lower section of the fixture which would cover the 4 lower sockets. Lamps were extracted from the old York Theater located in Athol MA. The movie theater was open Sept 1930 These pieces were crafted and installed by the Black & Boyd Mfg. Co. in the late 1920’s. Black & Boyd is an electric and gas lighting fixture manufacturer out of New York. Well known for their work on the New York Central and Hudson River Railroads, and many other locations throughout New England. The company would create pieces based on architect’s designs or prepare sketches upon request. 65 in. high x 35 in. dia.
