Fancy Brass & Iron Hanging Theater Light. Deco style hanging light fixture has an hexagonal form with frosted glass panels, 6 cylindrical side posts with glass shades and 6 frosted and etched divider panels; fancy iron framework with brass filigree highlights. Has 4 tiers of sockets with 3 at the top pointing up over 5 in the center with 2 pendant sockets below and 3 more sockets on the base; the 6 cylindrical shades each cover a single socket. Condition is as found when removed from theater by the consignor, 2 large panels broken, one divider panel broken at the top. Lamps were extracted from the old York Theater located in Athol MA. The movie theater was open Sept 1930 These pieces were crafted and installed by the Black & Boyd Mfg. Co. in the late 1920’s. Black & Boyd is an electric and gas lighting fixture manufacturer out of New York. Well known for their work on the New York Central and Hudson River Railroads, and many other locations throughout New England. The company would create pieces based on architect’s designs or prepare sketches upon request. 44 in. high x 28 in. wide x 25 in. deep.
