2 Fancy Brass & Iron Hanging Theater Lights. Monumental sized iron and brass fixture with 4 long support posts hanging from the ceiling canopy, 30 in. dia. center shade with frosted bent glass panels and a stepped lower section having fancy shapped panels with pierced decorated brass overlays and a spherical teardrop pendant. Sockets are mounted in 4 clusters with 2 large center ring clusters illuminating the body of the lamp. Condition is as found when removed from theater by the consignor, has some loss and damages to the glass, 1 lamp in very nice condition, the other is suitable for parts. Lamps were extracted from the old York Theater located in Athol MA. The movie theater was open Sept 1930 These pieces were crafted and installed by the Black & Boyd Mfg. Co. in the late 1920’s. Black & Boyd is an electric and gas lighting fixture manufacturer out of New York. Well known for their work on the New York Central and Hudson River Railroads, and many other locations throughout New England. The company would create pieces based on architect’s designs or prepare sketches upon request. 94 in. high x 50 in. dia.
