FOUR BURMESE OPIUM WEIGHTS, 19TH CENTURY
BronzeBurma, 19th centuryThe two largest of these opium weights represent hamsa, the vahana of Lord Brahma Gayatri, Saraswati and Lord Vishvakarma, and both are on round bases. The smaller piece shows a Chinthe, a mythical lion-like being, on a conical square base and looking ready to pounce, while the salles weight shows an elephant on a hexagonal base.
