THREE MINIATURE GLAZED CERAMIC VESSELS
Glazed ceramic with cobalt-blue painting
China, Ming dynasty (1368-1644)
Three small, very nicely painted, bulbous pots with prominent shoulders and short necks, with one of them somewhat more elongated. This one displays deer or doe inside straight-edged spaces and, on the shoulder, a chain of ruyi forms. On one of the bulbous vessels features floral depictions inside of lobed areas as well as a crown of leaves running around its shoulder. The other small pot also features this leaf border, but has carp-like fish rapidly swimming upwards in the main area. Be-tween these fields is a fish-scale pattern.
