MANDARIN FOLDING FAN WITH FIGURATIVE SCENES

16 leaves carved in finest elaborate open-work, all with buildings, figures and trees, deep relief on the outer ribs. Both sides offer here especially richly figurative courtly scenes: On a throne one finds a prince and princess. Painted silk is applied to all costumes, further all faces with painted, most delicately cut ivory platelets. Borders on both sides with blossoms, fruits, endless knots as well as objects from the eight treasures.
