AN INDIAN 18th CENTURY STANDING FEMALE FIGURE
Bronze
West- India , ca. 18th century
Fully forward facing devi standing on a small square base. Quite unusual here is that here breasts, while emphasized, are covered by a kind of short-sleeved shirt with a small neckline. All the edges are beaded. From the waist down, she wears a dhoti with decorative bands on the sides. She has her forearms extended directly in front of her and relatively large holes in her hands for objects she once held. On the forehead of her expressive face is a kind of shrivatsa-emblem. Her hair is tied in the back and falls in a plait. Very expressive depiction with good patina
