A RARE KONDH TRIBAL BRONZE MODEL OF A FISH

Eastern India, Kondh Tribe, late 19th – early 20th century
The fish’s scales are executed naturalistically with the characteristic ‘wire mesh pattern’ of the Kondh tribe. The fish has an exaggeratedly large bulbous body, highly contrasting to the small and peculiar humanoid face.
