MASSIVE Chinese Shang Dynasty lidded Ding censer, with horse-shoe shaped handles, domed lid. Large bulbous body shaped and raised on three straight legs and is flat-cast on the sides with ring archaic symbol patterns filled with leiwen and Ruyi, cherry blooms with a foliates and auspicious motif. Tripod footings protrude from the bottom of the censer mating to corresponding grooves located, the legs are adorned with taotie mask ornamentations. Two handles U-shape extended vertically on the upper rim. The bronze dome lids decorated with vigorous cumulative shell armor and crowned by a carved of head buffalo mythical creature finial with a ring. Archaistic patterns ensconce the midsection of the surface. Beautiful Chinese censer that allures the eye, displaying an amazing level of craftsmanship.
