The clay fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. Rounded sides rising to a slightly flaring rim, finely hand painted to the exterior with rooster against garden landscape, between a washed-blue lappet border encircling the foot. The entire cup painted in an artless style further reflected in the six-character reign mark in underglaze blue framed within double squares inscribed on the countersunk base, the immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze, pooling on the base slightly veiling the mark. Marked on base, six blue script -KaiShu- characters enclosed within double frame borders, ChengHua Reign Period of Great Ming. Dimension: 1-3/8" H x 3-1/8" Diam.
