These original engravings are plates XI, XII and XIII of the rare treatise published by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach titled "A Plan of the Civil and Historical Architecture, in the Representation of the Most Noted Buildings of Foreign Nations, both Ancient and Modern: Taken from ther most Approv'd Historians, Original Medals, Remarkable Ruins, and Curious Authentick Designs", illustrated with eighty-eight double page engraved plates and one double page letterpress plate, first published in Vienna in 1721, followed by two English editions in 1730 and 1737, translated by Thomas Lediard. All of the engravings were based on Fischer's own drawings.
