Description: A PAIR OF LARGE JAPANESE EXPORT KO IMARI VASES EARLY EDO PERIOD, GENROKU (1688-1704)
The large trumnpet shaped vases decorated in kinrande style in underglaze blue, iron red and gilding, with bijin (beautiful women) amongst cherry blossom, and carp ascending a waterfall. This pair of vases was originally part of a five-piece garniture. One vase very attractively repaired with gold lacquer (kintsugi). Each together with a custom made Japanese wooden box.
