Description: A Yellow Peking Glass Bowl and Cover QIANLONG PERIOD (1735-1796) the flared body rising from short straight foot to lipped mouth rim, carved to the exterior with a pair of taotie masks separated by two geometric phoenix-head and geometric roundels, the domed cover surmounted by a peony-shaped finial, carved in relief with lotus sprays and pierced through the center, the glass in a semi-transparent yellow tone, underside bearing a Qianlong four-character mark. Diam 4 in., 10 cm.
Condition Report: Overall good stable condition. Slight chip out around the four penetrated holes to the interior of the lid, inherent to the fabrication process. Small fleabite to scrolling vine decoration lid. Scattered light surface scratching throughout interior of lid and bowl, associated with normal age related use. ?
