Description:
A YELLOW-GROUND CANTON ENAMEL BOX, QING
China, later 18th- earlier 19th century. Finely painted on the cover medallion with a scene from ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’. The sides densely decorated with shou symbols, ruyi bats and scrolling lotus against a pure yellow ground.
Provenance: From an old English private collection.
Condition: Good condition with some wear and minor abrasions. The painting is completely undamaged, but the white base has a small old repair. The inner has significant traces of use, soiling and hairlines. The bronze lips and foot rim bear remnants of fine gilding.
