A PALE CELADON JADE SCHOLAR’S ROCK, QING
China, 18th-19th century. Standing on a narrow foot and expanding towards the top, detailed with a deer and a crane peeking through the stone and a lingzhi spring, the back with Xi-wang-mu, a noble lady and her attendant.
Provenance: French private collection. By repute acquired in the local trade in southern France ca. 20 years ago.
Condition: There are two drillings at the underside of the base which may have been added later for fixation to an additional base. Besides that, very good condition with some wear and traces of use. Good patina. Some natural flaws to the mineral.

The stone of mostly even celadon color with few russet and buff inclusions.
