Description:
A BLUE AND WHITE TEA CADDY, KANGXI
China 1662-1722. The heavily potted square vessel finely painted with a portrait of philosopher Ban Zhao (45-116) reading a book and Imperial Envoy Zhang Qian (d. 113 BC) with a raft on a river, the sides with arrangements of flowerpots on tables, stands and rocks. Signed “Master Hui”.
Provenance: From a private estate. By repute acquired in China around 1900 and thence by descent in the same family.
Condition: One tiny glaze hairline. Firing flaws, old wear and tiny surface scratches. The wood base and cover with extensive wear and some losses.

Note the thick, unctuous glaze. Six-character inscription to front and two-character inscription to back. Old fitted openwork hard-wood base and cover with pierced carving of a shou character. (3)

中國,1662-1722。胎體沉重 ,青花繪製歷史人物班昭與張騫,另兩面為花卉書桌。落款“會大傢”。
來源:私人遺產 ,據説1900年前後購於中國並在同一家族中保存至今。
品相:一道細小的髮絲綫 ,燒製瑕疵,舊磨損與表面劃痕。木底座和木蓋嚴重磨損,有些磕損。
