A LARGE ‘FIVE DRAGON’ DISH, GUANGXU
China, Guangxu six-character mark in underglaze-blue to base and of the period (1875-1908).
Provenance: From the collection of Sir Richard Evans, and thence by descent. Sir Richard Mark Evans, KCMG, KCVO (15 April 1928 – 24 August 2012) was a British diplomat and the ambassador to the People’s Republic of China from January 1984 to May 1988, during which he and Zhou Nan, the Chinese representative, initialed the Sino-British Joint Declaration on 26 September 1984.
Condition: Two small shallow chips to lip with old, well-visible repair. One very short associated hairline of ca. 1 cm. Some wear and firing flaws.

With shallow rounded sides, painted in blue and white with a dragon leaping amidst clouds and flames in pursuit of a flaming pearl, the motif repeated in a surrounding frieze and again on the exterior above a petal lappet border, all reserved on a cobalt-blue ground.

品相:盤沿上有兩道磕損,曾經被修復,如圖所見。一道約1厘米長的髮絲裂縫。一些磨損和燒製瑕疵。
