TWO AUBERGINE AND TURQUOISE GLAZED ‘FISH’ ROOF TILES
China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Each fish is modeled from earthenware on a wave form support above the semi-circular tile, with deeply incised tails and scales, raised heads and bulging eyes.
Provenance: From a French estate.
Condition: Old wear, traces of use, chipping to edges, firing flaws and kiln grit, one with a loss to a section of the tile.
