A GILT COPPER REPOUSSé RICE CONTAINER
Tibet, 17th – 18th century. Finely engraved, embossed and incised dragons in sixteen openwork medallions to the sides, the cover with the characters “Om Mani Padme Hum” and a central medallion with a deity riding on a Buddhist lion within a ruyi border. The base with crossed vajra.
Provenance: From an old private collection in Bavaria, Germany.
Condition: Fine condition with some wear, dents and minor nicks. Excellent natural patina!

Such containers (drup phor) were used for ceremonial rice offerings after overcoming an illness.
