A FINE SANDSTONE HEAD OF BUDDHA, KHMER
Cambodia, 11th-12th century. The face with a benevolent expression and almond-shaped downcast eyes below straight brows, delicately outlined lips, almond eyes and pendulous earlobes, the hair arranged in a conical chignon.
Provenance: Private collection, Lower Saxony, Germany. By repute acquired from the collection of the famed toxicologist Professor Ernst Richard Habermann (1926-2001).
Condition: Extensive weathering and wear, losses as seen on pictures.
