A BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI LACQUER-GILT BRONZE
Laos, 19th – early 20th century. Buddha is cast seated in dhyanasana on a stepped, triangular plinth, with bhumisparsha mudra, calling mother earth a witness to his enlightenment. The flame arising from his domed ushnisha. The right sole with a lotus blossom.
Provenance: From a private collection in Zagreb, Croatia.
Condition: Dark patina, extensive losses to lacquer gilding, which is partially instable. Old wear and traces of use, casting flaws. Overall still attractive condition.
