A GROUP OF FOUR CHINESE SCHOLAR'S DUAN AND BROWN EARTHENWARE INKSTONES, QING DYNASTY (1644-1912), one modeled in brown painted earthenware as the face of a smiling and bearded Lohan incorporating a partial shou symbol and a double gourd above two shaped shallow wells, reversing to molded rectangular character mark stamps, height: 5 1/2", width: 4"; one of shaped rectangular form and enclosing a conforming shallow well beneath a natural pale green eye, height: 4 1/4", width: 3 1/2"; two of shaped rectangular form and shallow wells with natural pale green eyes. Condition: The Lohan inkstone is in good vintage condition with normal light scratches, marks, one chip on lower left edge, worn areas and some tiny nicks along edges, surface buildup and a small hairline. The Duan inkstones have very smoothly worn old surfaces with faint scratches, some scattered ink spots and surface buildup.
