Description: A TIBETAN THANGKA DEPICTING JE TSONGKHAPA 19TH CENTURY
Gouache on cotton cloth, depicting Je Tsongkhapa seated on a single lotus throne in padmasana, wearing saffron robes, with both hands raised before his breast in dharmacakramudra, holding the stems of two lotus blooms in his hands which rise up to either side cushioning his attributes as a manifestation of Manjushri, the sword of wisdom and a book. Depicted within a forested mountainscape, with two Kadampa lamas below with a flaming triple gem. Mounted in a later brocade border with a wooden roller.
