Constructed from carved teak, with two inset panels of pierced jali work, the whole covered in remnant green mineral pigment over white pigment, with hand-forged iron fittings.

PROVENANCE:
Salvaged by the Copelands from an 18th century palace in Palitana, Gujarat, which was demolished in 1978. The salvage was managed by the Gujarati handicrafts association, and the purchase made through that organisation.

Losses to the mineral pigment, some small areas of old loss to the woodwork, some old splits, oxidisation to the iron work.
