Complete set of the first edition (printed on LARGE PAPER) of one of the most attractively illustrated 17th-cent. descriptions of Amsterdam by the Dutch historian Caspar Commelin (1636-1693). As in all copies 1 engraving (“Amsterdam met de Stadts Gebouwen”) is apparently missing according to the binder’s index, but the number of engravings is complete (according to Nijhoff/ Van Hattum). Both bindings sl. rubbed/ worn (along extremities), upper joint of vol. I sl. splitting at top. Occ. sl. foxed/ browned, but nevertheless a good set in good condition.
