Scarce etching published as illustration (plate no. 26) for Jean De La Fontaine’s “Fables”. Between 1927-1930 Chagall produced 100 etchings for these fables commissioned by the French art dealer Ambroise Vollard (1866-1939), but the project remained unfinished. After Vollard’s death the etchings were published by Tériade (Paris, 1952. Printed by Maurice Potin in 200 copies). – In good condition.
