LOT NOTES Achille Jean Theodore Brail was born in 1842 in Cassagnolles, France, and was a student of both Pierre Comte and Edouard Detaille. A frequent exhibitor at the Paris Salon, where he debuted in 1874, Brail was known for his military and landscape scenes. The present lot shows the artist`s mastery in capturing a moment in time and involving the viewer in the emotions of the scene.
