Very rare etching depicting the the triumphal arch made in the inauguration of Pope Innocenzo XIII in San Giovanni Laterano on November 16, 1721. Sicilian engraver Francesco Faraone Aquila from Palermo worked in Rome from 1690 to 1740, collaborating with Rossi Domenico printer. He created prints of ceremonies in the papal court. The engraving shows. The ephemeral arch was designed by Alessandro Specchi and erected in the Piazza del Campidoglio, which appears in the background. Its sides are adorned with two standing sculptures of Castor and Pollux; the arch opening reveals the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius.
